What a great group of kids that we had from the @FirstTee program for the @TheFirstGreen event at the OJ Noer Turfgrass Research Facility! They learned about turf, soils, pests, & equipment. Thanks to @plkoch2, @djsoldat, @kurtaculous, @dwmarach, and PJ Liesch for helping out.
Celebrating 100 years of Milorganite wouldn’t be complete without a shoutout to “Mr. Turf” himself, O.J. Noer 🌱
His work helped prove what great turf can really look like—and set the standard for lawns ever since. Here’s to the legacy behind the green 💚 #Milorganite100 https://t.co/1AshA4lk4R
Another great snow mold trial at @MarquetteGolf ! Some things worked, other things didn’t. Overall less pressure than I was expecting given they received 280 inches of snow, but still a great test of the treatments. Full results will be available in a couple weeks
Bittersweet night last week as we said goodbye and congrats to @Suwell86 as she moves on to the Jean-Michel Ané lab. Shashi led our snow mold fungicide resistance research, snow mold modeling, and many microbiome projects. Congrats and good luck in your next chapter!
We lost about 25” of snowpack over the weekend. We have lots more to go especially in the deep drifted areas and valleys but it was a huge start. #Snowmold is very active right now and will be until the snow is gone and the surfaces dry out.

The list of WGCSA member courses for this year's auction is awesome and ever-growing! All proceeds received from these items support turf research at UW-Madison.
Winter injury is not just disruptive and frustrating, it’s expensive. A recent study conducted with superintendents across the northern U.S. and Canada puts real numbers to the financial impact 👇
A new statewide study conducted on behalf of the Wisconsin Golf Alliance shows golf in WI generates $6.44 billion in total economic impact, supports 56,595 jobs, and contributes $2 billion in wages, underscoring the industry’s dynamic role in Wisconsin’s economy and communities.

Fortunate to have incredible colleagues like @badgercropdoc and @djsoldat who BOTH were awarded named professorships at the @UWMadisonCALS Investiture Ceremony tonight. Congrats to them both!
Come see members of the #WinterTurf team at the @GCSAAConference!
Stop by University Pavilion (Booth 1909) Wed. and Thurs. (2/4-2/5) to discuss winter stresses and see the environmental sensing nodes that are being used to better understand winter stress on golf greens.
With 250 folks registered, we might have officially run out of space at the 59th annual Wisconsin Golf Turf Symposium! Looking forward to two great days of education and networking.
Working on a ppt w/ @TurfgrassChou and asked ChatGPT to create an image of 'Bucky Badger exploring the turfgrass microbiome' and aside from the obvious questions of what's in those test tubes and what's the scope plugged into and why is he using a magnifying glass, it's not awful
My department at UW is creating a series of 'History Notes' to highlight some of it's greatest accomplishments. Happy to share that the latest History Note focuses on the role that retired professor Gayle Worf played in discovering necrotic ring spot!
