This gorgeous juvenile red-tailed hawk was rescued from the Pratt University campus after hanging around there several hours on low perches and eventually on the ground. She was easily handled and by the time she arrived, was unable to stand.
We treated her for potential rodenticide poisoning, but we suspect a trauma, such as a window collision. She’s also emaciated, so there’s likely an underlying condition that prompted the accident.
After a couple of days of supportive care and medications, she’s perching and alert, but still quiet. We really hope to see this trend continue with additional care.

Today marks the 178th anniversary of the first U.S. stamp. Pratt alumni have a rich history with U.S. stamps. They have depicted pivotal moments in U.S. history and cultural icons on those small squares.
What started as portraits of President George Washington and first Postmaster-General Benjamin Franklin has evolved into everyday art that honors America’s history.
