Actually that scene is from Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981). The iconic Blue Heeler companion who rides shotgun with Max, a survivor in the wasteland. In 1979 Mad Max, the dog is unnamed, friendly Australian Cattle Dog that belongs to Max and Jessie before the world collapses.
