First, congratulations to all the players and coaches who participated. Great job representing Valley football!

Now for the hard truth: the event itself is broken.
The Central Valley All-Star Game (formerly the City-County Game) was once one of the biggest events in local sports.
Today, many people didn’t even know when or where the game was being played. Attendance was around 1,000 fans, and the lack of promotion and production was impossible to ignore. Did you know when the game was?

This game has incredible tradition and history, but it has hit rock bottom.
I played in this game when it was a huge honor and a major event. Being selected meant something. Today, some players decline invitations, and some coaches don’t even submit players for consideration because they didn’t know.

The Boys & Girls Clubs fundraising mission is important and worthy of support. I love it but the first priority should be the players. They are the reason this game exists. Honor them first, and everything else will follow.

PAGMETER’S IDEAS TO SAVE THE GAME:
✔️ Make being selected a big deal again. Start with a ceremony when players and coaches are selected! �✔️ Get sponsors to provide player gift bags and experiences. Spotlight!!�✔️ Involve cheerleaders from every high school.�✔️ Bring local high school bands back into the event. �✔️ Have local sports legends and celebrities serve as head coaches. From Derek Carr to Lorenzo Neal. You get the idea. 
✔️ if you are going to combine the City-County schools for the game, why not have the local celebrity coaches have a draft selection with the coaching staffs who are selected for the game? That could be fun. �✔️ Start promoting the game the day players and coaches are selected.�✔️ Get local media, radio stations, influencers, and sports outlets involved.�✔️ Create a true halftime experience with entertainment and fireworks.�✔️ Let every high school and youth football player attend for free. Make it a party!!

High school football starts in July. The All-Star Game should be the spark that kicks off the season.

For the record, Donnie Arax and I served on the committee years ago when it was the City-County tradition but then was changed, we felt the game was heading in the wrong direction and stepped away.
The City-County schools are now all combined.

✅it's officially football season. PagMeter rule would be, July would be dead-period for High School football. Vacation time! Aug 1st would be the first day of practice.

✅Every High School should have a Football team. To the Irvington Administration in Fremont, you suck!

✅Still maybe the greatest stat in California history, Tulare Union, Kazmeir Allen put up a national high school record scoring 72 touchdowns in 2017🏈 . That's past crazy!

✅Support our local businesses. Having a business in California is not easy.

✅Great hire! Marty Bitter is the new assistant commissioner of the central section. If anyone can bring back common sense to the CIF, the Kerman Lions Hall of Famer can!
