@chucksneed69@BasilTheGreat@drchrisnewton Ok so they fucked up. They obviously didn’t realise he’d been stabbed. Which obviously is pretty fucked etc. But I’m still not really seeing much evidence that they behaved this way because he was white. And more specifically because there was some systemic issue in the police…
@justsurfinthei1@BasilTheGreat@drchrisnewton You clearly don’t understand it at all. I’m not talking about the events themselves. I didn’t agree personally with the reactions and weaponisation of either of the events.
I’m arguing against the equivalence without nuance as a political tool for even further weaponisation.
@chucksneed69@BasilTheGreat@drchrisnewton Because similar to this case. It appeared like it could be racially driven. What’s the evidence for the Southampton incident? Probably about the same? However comparing historical context ie: racism in the US against blacks vs the uk and white people is fucking stupid.
@justsurfinthei1@BasilTheGreat@drchrisnewton It’s about the contextual depth behind the flashpoint. The plight of the black man in America over the last 100 years vs the “plight” of the white Englishman in the uk.
We’re saying they are comparable. Ridiculous equivalence.
@chucksneed69@BasilTheGreat@drchrisnewton I didn’t say it was necessarily. I was adding context to why people felt that way. And seriously? over the last 100 odd years you don’t think black men have been treated differently in America by police etc?
The contextual depth of the situation is completely different.
@HaSparklyJuice Firstly I’m painfully white. Secondly yes. In the case of the grooming gangs there were police failings due to racial reasons. I’ve never disputed that.
I can’t believe I’m explaining it again. I’m just saying to conflate it with the US George Floyd tensions is silly.
@HaSparklyJuice So really scant minimal reporting. You keep changing what point you’re arguing. You’re lost. We are talking about systemic tiered policing. This is clearly not that. Those issues were mainly 90s / 00s
@HaSparklyJuice Thats not what I’m saying at all.
Trying to compare this issue to the mistreatment of blacks by police. Over time in the US/George Floyd case is incomparable in scale and also a completely different context.
Thats it.
