@SocialWorkEng I agree about time. Parents with LD who are being assessed need time to process information and learning. Often timescales within the family courts are too restrictive for parents with LD . I recently wrote an article on timescales in Family Proceedings https://t.co/NGBKmlIBZP

[ParentAssess @parentassess]

@SocialWorkEng In ParentAssess we focus on the needs of parents with LD who frequently do not know of the rights that could afford them protection and improved access to services. We consider the power imbalance and work hard to help parents understand assessment processes and outcomes.

@socialworkaward

What a memorable week! Meeting up with the other award winners at the Houses of Parliament and hearing some very moving speeches , reminding us all of the need to challenge negative labels to enable the person to thrive.

@RichardDevineSW Very useful. In many UK child deaths SCRs a common feature is the presence of a step parent which would suggest we need to better understand the dynamics in these families and consider possible risk indicators.

@BASW_UK @JoeEHanley @SocialWorkEng It seems a harsh line to take for a caring profession in the middle of a cost of living crisis. Many of us did not find it a particularly easy process to navigate.
Rather than blame can’t they find a solution which lets SWs feel ‘cared for’ ?

[ParentAssess @parentassess]

In the UK we need to keep striving to ensure parents with learning disabilities are aware of the support and services they can access to help them to care for their children. #InternationalDayOfDisability #FamilyLaw #learningdisability #socialwork

@socialworkaward @CamdenLDService This was a lovely example of a creative approach - I loved reading about your work

[ParentAssess @parentassess]

@socialworkaward It was a great night full of positive examples of social workers making a difference.

We are delighted that ParentAssess has been selected as a Finalist in the Family Law Awards 2022 for Innovation of the Year.

Our assessment framework helps parents with learning disabilities engage by simplifying the process.

Parents with disabilities can receive important advice and support from OTs to improve their living environment, which in turn can positively impact on their ability to parent. I have worked with excellent OTs who have made such a positive difference. #learningdisability

@MartinSLewis Spent 23k on sickness cover from my bank when I went self employed years ago. I never went sick which is a good thing I suppose but 23k is a lot for some peace of mind.

@lemnsissay @JohnLewisRetail So many fostering teams are struggling to recruit carers and this advert has started the conversations, the enquiries, the opportunity to correct the myths about fostering …it’s a start
