Malhotra is our highest-rated centre but still comes near the end of our top 10. If you want to be optimistic here, his late-riser status and bloodlines are encouraging. Seems like a high-floor two-way C who showed more upside as the season went along.

🚨🚨🚨 BIG NEWS!!🚨🚨🚨
MODEL UPDATE!!!
Folks,
I’ve spent the past month doing an extensive update of the league translations, incorporating a more extensive methodology that is more adaptable on a YoY basis. It now uses a moving yearly average, prior translations were era based (1990s, 2000s, 2010s etc.) As a result, the model has gone through its biggest update since Hockey Prospecting was first launched in 2020.
Certain leagues like the J20 (Sweden), QMJHL and US National Development Program are stronger than their original translations in the model. Leagues like the WHL, OHL and KHL are starting to decline in strength. Approx. 80% to 90% of the players saw no or a very negligible change to their profile, but you’ll notice some players have moved a bit in terms of their equivalencies and probabilities.
I’ve noticed a few relatively recent draftees that have already established themselves as stars look more favorable at the time of the draft now (Sanderson, Stutzle, Zegras, Caufield, W. Nylander and L. Hutson to name a few). FWIW, to provide a bit of context, the model is trained off of 1990 to 2015 draft data to 'predict the next ones.'
The models updates are now live in HP so hop in there and see the changes and let me know what you think!
If #Oilers elect to continue down the path with Mike Babcock, sources say the #NHLPA is in receipt of “significant” additional claims from their own investigation with players that were not publicly reported in 2023.
Those claims were presented to #NHL prior to his resignation.
I'm super excited to share that I'll be at the @DraftNHL in Buffalo with credentials thanks to @DobberHockey
Can't wait to share more insights and content from the draft!
@DarrenDreger@partialbreakpod As a die hard oilers fan… if this happens
Il help McDavid and Draisaitl pack and get the fuck out of Edmonton
How can 1 organization be this fucking stupid ?
Sources: The Edmtn Oilers are consulting with the NHLPA to see if there are objections that must be resolved before potentially hiring Mike Babcock. Amid allegations of invading players privacy, Babcock resigned in CBJ as Head Coach in 2023. Further investigation may be required.
- Request a trade that shocks your entire franchise, giving them less leverage
- Only give 3 teams that you'd accept a trade to
- Arguably only one can REALLY give a package Detroit would want
Larkin truly does not give an F. He must reallyyyyyyy hate that front office. Yikes.
The LA Kings are close to naming their next head coach, and it will be a new one. Per sources, DJ Smith is no longer in the running. Keep eyes on Jay Woodcroft and Peter Laviolette.
An unexpected name surfaces in Toronto’s coaching search — Joe Pavelski. According to multiple sources, the Future Hall-of-Famer is on the Maple Leafs’ radar.

The value of drafting big #NHL Dmen and how few of them will go on to play 200 #NHL games. @shanemalloy joins me on the latest edition of Hockey Sense, up on all platforms.
It was a “whirlwind” year but Mathis Preston still has things you can’t teach.

Treliving missing out on this deal because he filed it late is probably a big part of how he got fired. Knies is not worth nearly that kind of rebuild haul. With TOR's bottom falling out - landing essentially 3 1st round picks worth of capital for a guy that's never hit 70 points is fantastic work.
Robert Thomas trade rumors can be put to rest. The #stlblues are not looking to move their #1 center. Expect Thomas to be on the roster when training camp begins in September.
#SJSharks are taking Carson Carels to dinner on Thursday.
One of a few dinners, I'm sure. San Jose obviously has their choice of cream of the crop prospects with the No. 2 pick in the 2026 Draft
