Palestinian FA expose FAI’s unforgivable cynical act of deception – Joanna Byrne TD
"Today’s clarification from the Palestinian FA that they do not endorse Ireland playing Israel exposes the FAI’s despicable attempts to misrepresent the voices of Palestinian people as cover for their own cowardice."

📸 Finance Minister @JohnODowdSF visited Fermanagh this afternoon to see how the Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark project will benefit from funding provided through the Mid South West Growth Deal, improving the quality of sustainable tourism and boosting the regional economy.
I joined my fellow Sinn Féin MPs in adding our names to this letter to the British Prime Minister and Home Secretary, calling for a compassionate, fair and transparent pathway for students from Gaza seeking to continue their education here.
These young people have endured unimaginable suffering, loss and disruption, yet they continue to show extraordinary determination to pursue their studies.
The British government must act now to ensure these students are properly supported and can pursue their education in safety and with dignity.
The time to prepare for Irish Unity is now.
Today Mary Lou McDonald introduced a Bill in the Dáil that would begin structured and responsible planning for Irish Unity and constitutional change.
A Citizens’ Assembly would ensure everyone has the opportunity to formally enter this important conversation and help shape our shared future.
The future of Ireland should be shaped democratically by you, the people who live here.
🌿 Everyone is Welcome! 🌿

As Gen Sec and CEO of the Royal College of Nursing, I spent many days in the company of our brilliant internationally educated nurses. Their commitment, dedication and personal sacrifice for our NHS is unquantifiable. Many of these nurses told me about leaving young families, elderly parents and even spouses behind in their parent country in order to look after our patients. Now they are being intimidated, burnt out of their homes and asked for professional ID at blockades when on their way to work. There are no words to describe how I feel about this as a registered nurse. #despicable #sickening #deplorable
'This report confirms that a temporary solution has gone on far too long. These arrangements have now been in place for almost three years and patients and staff are bearing the consequences'

Groups of masked men burning families out of their homes is nothing less than disgusting cowardice.
This has nothing to do with community.
This is outright thuggery.
The attack in North Belfast was heinous and wrong.
But there are dangerous attempts to exploit that to target and attack innocent people who are simply trying to live, work and raise their families here.
Racism, intimidation and violence are wrong wherever they occur.
There can be no excuse and no justification for these attacks tonight.
No one wants to see this on our streets and I again appeal for calm.
There is understandable disgust & revulsion at the horrific attempted murder that took place last night. I share that revulsion.
But the scenes we are witnessing tonight, family homes attacked, cars burnt, damaged infrastructure & parts of our community in flames, are shameful & disgraceful.
No one has the right to spread fear, terrorise innocent families or unleash lawless disorder on our streets.
I spent today on the ground in north Belfast, & the message from local residents was clear: the focus must remain on supporting the victim, standing with his family & ensuring the perpetrator is brought to justice.
The actions of those who are destroying their own communities are totally unacceptable.
It is clear that the horrendous attack last night is being used to whip up fear, division & hatred.
That must be called out.
The vicious attacker who attempted to murder a man in north Belfast last night is now in police custody.
My thoughts remain with the victim, his family & the local residents who witnessed such traumatic & distressing scenes.
The courage & quick actions of local people & the police who intervened to disarm the attacker undoubtedly prevented further harm & deserve the highest praise.
I was on the ground today speaking with local people & will continue to engage closely with the community & the PSNI as the investigation progresses.
We must allow justice to take its course & ensure the perpetrator faces the full weight of the law.
I am shocked following a horrific attack in north Belfast last night.
My thoughts are with the individual who has been taken to hospital following serious injuries, & I hope they make a full recovery.
I have spoken with police today & would urge anyone with information about this appalling attack to come forward & assist the investigation.
Every worker deserves to keep 100% of the tips they earn.
Yet the DUP is blocking the Good Jobs Bill which would guarantee that.
It’s time for Emma Little Pengelly to stop blocking this bill and denying support to workers.
The transformative Good Jobs Bill will deliver the most significant improvement to workers’ rights in decades.
It is about supporting workers, protecting families and ensuring fair pay and conditions for all.
We will work constructively with other parties to deliver this bill.
Congratulations to my Sinn Féin colleagues, Cllr Debbie Coyle and Cllr Deirdre Varsani, on their election as Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and Mid Ulster District Council respectively.
Congratulations also to Cllr Stephen McCann on his election as Vice Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
I wish Debbie, Deirdre and Stephen every success in their new roles and look forward to working alongside them in the year ahead.
