पाकिस्तान द्वारा POK के गिलगित-बाल्टिस्तान में 7 जून 2026 को कराए गए विधानसभा चुनावों को लेकर गंभीर विवाद की स्थिति पैदा हो गई है। भारतीय क्षेत्र पर पाकिस्तान के इस अवैध और जबरन कब्जे के कारण स्थानीय लोगों द्वारा भारी विरोध प्रदर्शन किया जा रहा है और पाकिस्तान की सेना चुनाव में धांधली कर रही है और व आतंकियों को समर्थन दे रही है।

आज के चुनाव को वहां के एक्सपर्ट वैसे हीं देख रहे हैं जैसे 1971 के दौरान ईस्ट पाकिस्तान यानी आज के बांग्लादेश के हालात थे और तुलना उस वक्त के याहया खान की इस वक्त के फील्ड मार्शल मुनीर से हो रही है।

आजाद पट्टन बॉर्डर प्वाइंट, जो पाकिस्तान और PoJK को जोड़ता है, स्थानीय लोगों द्वारा पूरी तरह बंद कर दिया गया है। जनता का अरोप है कि जनरल असीम मुनीर के नेतृत्व में इन चुनावों को 'हाईजैक' कर रहे हैं और चुनाव में धांधली करके हाफिज सईद जैसे प्रतिबंधित आतंकवादी संगठनों से जुड़े उम्मीदवारों को राजनीति में प्रवेश दिलाने का प्रयास किया जा है।

भारत सरकार के विदेश मंत्रालय (MEA) ने इस चुनावी कवायद का कड़ा विरोध दर्ज कराया है। भारत ने स्पष्ट किया है कि गिलगित-बाल्टिस्तान सहित पूरा जम्मू-कश्मीर और लद्दाख भारत का अभिन्न अंग है। पाकिस्तान द्वारा ऐसे अवैध कदमों से क्षेत्र में हो रहे मानवाधिकार हनन और राजनीतिक दमन को छिपाया नहीं जा सकता।

गिलगित-बाल्टिस्तान के स्थानीय नागरिक पाकिस्तान के इस रवैये का विरोध कर रहे हैं। लंबे समय से स्थानीय लोगों को वोट देने के अधिकार और पाकिस्तान के संविधान में उचित प्रतिनिधित्व से वंचित रखा गया है, जिसके विरुद्ध वे लगातार मुखर रहे हैं।
