Had a wonderful time talking with @XiaowuGu at #ARVO2023. He was an incredible resource during my time as an intern at @genentech. Been lovely meeting colleagues, old and new, in NOLA
This summer I had the chance to do an internship at @genentech under the guidance of Marion Jeanne, working with Dr Teotia and @XiaowuGu. It was a lot of fun learning more about how #biotech works and what I want from my future career. Peek the sweet company swag
For the last 2 weeks, I took up the mantle of reviewer 2. I think I managed to avoid the despair that many feel in their bones when they consider this part of the review process. Thanks to @SethBlackshaw and @revision_jhu for providing the skills and confidence to do this.
Things I have learned at #ARVO2022
1) really cool ways of improving my #scRNA seq data analysis
2) every soap dispenser at the Denver Convention Center requires a different combination of jazz hands and timing to work

Academia: if you aren’t willing to work seventy hours a week, earn half as much as your peers, and sacrifice everything you love, maybe you’re just not cut out for this profession.
To all the scientists who come to the US and speak English when it is not your native language
You are amazing. Take a break and speak in whatever way you want.
Also stop apologizing for your poor English...you speak better than I do and this is the only language I know.
