Any truly creative person will tell you that the process and the journey are the point... the act of creation is the point.
The technocrats can't understand enjoying the work & process to improve themselves at something, they want to short cut their way to talent they don't have and they don't want to pay for it, so they stole from every creative who has ever created something.
It is my annual (at minimum) existential crisis time... looking at real estate in Tasmania, Victoria (yes, really), New Zealand... and Japan.
I'll end up staying exactly where I am most likely, the flattest, driest part of Australia... when what I love is mountains, waterfalls, alpine lakes, snow, mossy creeks... I don't want to move my kids away from their grandparents, I saw mine once every few years because we moved away (dad was military, they move you around), I wish we hadn't, so I won't do that to my kids lightly.
Riding camels in the Jordanian desert was quite the experience... got to say, I'm not a fan of riding camels it turns out. Not particularly comfortable in certain places.
Mount Tambora, Sumbawa, Indonesia... This volcano erupted in 1815 and cooled the entire world so much that they called it the year with no summer.
I was fortunate enough to be there at a less explosive time, but in time to photograph an incredible storm sweeping across it.
Brunch is served... shakshuka eggs on a potato rosti nest with a beetroot puree, herb oil, crisp chilli oil, asparagus, chorizo, halloumi, and a red onion pickle.
All made from scratch.
