Never wait. Never listen. Never care.
Never waited for someone to tell me if I was good enough. Never listened to anyone who thought I was crazy for quitting my full-time teaching job to pursue art. Never cared if curators didn’t ask me to be in shows. I just started producing my own shit on my own terms, always making it a point to bring intention, integrity, and kindness to everything. That has made all the difference.
As we close out 2024 I'm proud of what we have been able to accomplish together. Through irl Exhibitions, BONK Art Masters Initiatives, and Arts Ambassador grants, we have amassed over $88k in artist sales, to date, with 100% staying with the artists.
BAM has some big ideas already set in motion for 2025 to expand on this. None of it is possible without @bonk_inu and @SolanaFndn believing in the importance of the art eco on Solana and all of the creatives, producers, and collectors who have consistently gone above and beyond to help make this happen. Y'all are amazing.
Happy @bonk_inu Day. Here's my BONK story.
Two years ago on Christmas Day was one of the worst for Solana. Degods announced they were bridging to ETH and moral was at an all time low. Through this difficult news and sentiment an airdrop from something called BONK came into a number of my wallets. Word got around that this was a gift for the @solana community. Minimal as it was at the time, it was a little bright spot in the sea of shit we were all going through. A few months later that coin named BONK spiked and saved me during an extremely difficult time financially as I lost everything post FTX. A familiar story for a lot of us. I was also able to use some of those profits to help produce the 1st @PenguloveNFT x J.T. Liss art exhibition with @iamkadense during NFT NYC. We had zero budget and a few sponsors who were kind enough to give us a little money to make it happen. I called in so many favors for that show. Still can't believe we pulled it off. @TheOnlyNom showed up and bought a few pieces to help artist out some more because that is the type of person he is. BONK saved so I could keep creating and building.
A year ago I produced the second Pengu x J.T. show with Kadense. This time BONK, along with @SolanaFndn matched sponsorship for us to produce a grander show in a better location. We ended up doing over 18k in sales and exhibited 45 artists from 18 different countries, all on Solana.
Fast forward to last April. It was Kadense who asked if we could get on a call. He told me a position opened up at BONK to be the Director of BONK Art Masters and thought I'd be a great fit. Then he told me what it entailed and a dream had come true. Something, along with my art, that had been a major goal of mine. I even wrote it on my 2023 NYE intentions (Be a creative director for an art organization - no bullshit). BONK saved me again and provided an opportunity and the freedom to see grand vision of mine through.
2025 is upon us. A number of things that cannot be announced yet, but what I can tell you is that BONK will be there again to support artists, provide opportunities, and help the creative community grow. And that is just a branch of the overall BONK eco. They will continue to do this across all Solana communities. Because that's what BONK does.
Started producing art shows in cafes and basements over a decade ago. Anywhere they would let me and my friends exhibit our work. We were a fuck you to the traditional galleries who wouldn't let us in and a fuck you to the people who didn't believe in us.
This vision hasn't changed, it's just on a grander scale now.
It's been about 3 months locked away in the studio now and I've spent hundreds of hours working on the series - trying and trying and trying. It is a very difficult code to crack, but I am very excited to soon share work that is clearly radioactive.
Something happened in Peru that will forever change my work, and the subsequent time spent thinking, digesting and contemplating this has allowed me to produce some of the clearest captured moments of behind the veil I've ever seen.
There one simple equation: Time spent in hyperspace = higher accuracy
This series has consumed the better part of my life for about 6 months now:
- Months of diet preparation to increase sensitivity.
- Month in the Amazon jungle studying with Shipibo shamans
- 80+ hours on ayahuasca over 12 long ceremonies.
- 20+ hours of video diaries captured as notes from the fieldwork
- 30-40 sketches and works begun whittled down to 12 clear
The series has required a sustained effort and care for the mission. To transcend out of the crypto bubble, there must be a narrative that captivates attention and innovates beyond only the tech infrastructure. There are many more things being worked on behind the scenes, but they will come out later.
For now, I am on an ecstatic high as I begin to resurface out from the dark room, having successfully smuggled a bunch of tricks back from Wonderland.
