¿Qué significaría realmente que la UE apruebe Chat Control?

Que haces una fotografía de tu hijo pequeño jugando desnudo en la piscina y se la envías a sus abuelos. Antes de salir de tu móvil, un sistema automático podría analizar esa imagen. Ya no bastaría con que tú decidieras a quién enviarla.

Que tu pareja está embarazada y compartís por WhatsApp los resultados de una amniocentesis, una ecografía o un diagnóstico complicado. Información íntima. Familiar. Privada. Ya no sería solo vuestra.

Que una mujer denuncia malos tratos y envía a su abogado fotografías de las lesiones o conversaciones con su agresor.

O que un periodista recibe documentos confidenciales de una fuente que se juega el puesto de trabajo. La promesa de confidencialidad dejaría de depender únicamente de las personas.

Que un adolescente comparte una fotografía íntima con su pareja. Un algoritmo se equivoca, genera una alerta y una conversación privada entra en un circuito del que ya no depende de él salir.

Te dirán que es por tu seguridad. Siempre es por tu seguridad. Pero el verdadero cambio no consiste en que alguien lea tus mensajes. Consiste en que aceptes que ningún mensaje volverá a ser completamente privado. Ese día no habrán cambiado tus conversaciones. Habrá cambiado el concepto mismo de libertad.
