Andy Burnham, ruling by decree, has decided vape shops are "antisocial businesses". These are specialist retailers that check ID, pay tax, employ local people and help smokers quit. The minimarts selling illegal vapes from under the counter? They'll be just fine. https://t.co/hm4TpOk5jx
"Specialist vape shops will get hit by the rate hike. Their competitors ... mini marts that sell illegal vapes on the side – will not." Nail on head from @peterbeckett at @clearingthe_air
More unthinking stupidity from the morons who govern us.

“The UK says it wants to create a smoke-free generation, and that goal becomes harder to achieve if policymakers make it more difficult for smokers to choose products that eliminate the smoke", via @ObserverUK https://t.co/wRkfwIYlag
Capital markets union will require new legislation, in this case replacing divergent national rules and licensing. Yea that's simplification but not the kind we're talking about here. To me that's the most important thing to be getting on with.
I don't see how regulation of any kind is the root cause of (or indeed the solution to) the demographic problem.
I'll gloss over energy for now as I'm not an expert.
@ConnorAllenEU@pl_european Don't get me wrong. Simplification is necessary and helpful.
But of the things holding Europe back, over regulation isn't even top three (1. Disjointed capital markets, 2. Demographics/pensions, 3. Energy costs).
@alemannoEU It's safer than smoking. That's a factual statement.
You're doing the same thing climate deniers do; taking the culture war as a reason to deny scientific fact.
Why?
@Clive_Bates
2. COOL-life, although poorly marketed (same culture war coding error), looks to me like a technology project.
There are better tech solutions than AC out there.
My in-laws use them in Madrid (something similar to underfloor heating... I'll need to look up the details if you're interested but it's amazing).
Nothing wrong with trying to build something better.
I thought @JohnCleese is the greatest Comedian of all time … French Embassy in Oslo “Hold my Dom!”
You can bring Snus with tobacco to France but face fine and arrest for Snus WITHOUT tobacco while sipping Rose at the French Riviera.
@RadioFreeTom This really isn't the case. It's just northern Europe which until recently didn't have much need for it. In the South it's standard everywhere.
AC doesn't need to be part of the culture war.
Is a culture war over air conditioning really necessary?
AC isn't maga coded. Not having AC isn't woke. Europe can afford AC and has it where it's most needed (I lived in Spain. Never an issue).
Apparently we need to start installing it in more places.
That's it.
