Today, we have one more corrupt and incompetent minister, appointed by a deeply compromised President, not because it is in the best interests of the people of SA, but because it is necessary to maintain ANC unity
The WC People must be governed according to their democratic will
Municipal rates should not be continually increasing beyond inflation. This is basic economics and common sense. Where must ratepayers get the money to pay them if their income grows inline with inflation but their outgoings consistently increase beyond it?

The Western Cape has repeatedly been asking if it can police itself since 2019 - but the answer from the national government has consistently been no
The latest refusal, last week, came directly from SAPS to @geordinhl
The WC is using the wrong approach - protecting yourself from harm is a core tenet of the undeniable right to self-determination
It is time to stop asking and to start asserting
@VernonHaleySA@LLB_hard82389@capexitparty@LetsFreeTheCape They agreed to allow the WC people to decide for themselves, then they broke their promise
I'd wager an awful lot of money that in between, they polled and found that a leave vote was a very real possibility
It is certainly what our polling has repeatedly found
Significant moment - probably first time ANC has felt loss of majority
NB: This does not signal a viable alternative for constructive govt, just a negating allegiance

@ingedagte@uMarhobane@Martin_ASFL 😊 You are too kind, but i have no designs on political power personally
I just want to make sure that we can choose our own leader and empower him/her to act in our best interests
This is ruthless from Hill-Lewis, but a good sign. We need an awful lot more hard-nosed thinking in SA
I hope this will extend to other areas of govt - particularly the oft promised but rarely delivered autonomy of the WC
NB: Don't pick a fight with AF

@Elizabe19306309 Certainly not us, we have had very little to say on the matter
I think you will find the answer in the DA's own internal polling and the upsurge in support for the VF plus
What happens now to all the cultish DA sycophants who could see no wrong whatsoever - but now have to reconcile themselves to the fact that their own leader clearly could?
Now that they have been told it is OK, will they have damascus conversions?

Spot on - it was so ridiculous that it gave the game away
All of those of us who hate BEE do business with BEE companies - it is so pervasive that it is impossible not to
To launch a Sunday scoop on it was truly pitiful
News24 is not a media house. Its only saving grace is Carol Paton
Yesterday, @News24 tried to lead with an attack-piece on AfriForum, which failed spectacularly. Simply because there is no story to tell.
They don’t practice journalism - this is a desperate attempt to shape public opinion by manufacturing a negative political narrative about AfriForum, to serve their own agenda.
Also yesterday, the Citizen published an article about an AfriForum branch working in co-operation with the surrounding community to fix roads in Johannesburg North.
Two articles with nothing in common. One revolves around a world where political narratives are manufactured, and the other grounded in reality, trying to make a difference.
We stand proudly on the side of finding solutions through mutual recognition and respect.
@afriforum
The cost of the South African unitary state continues to rise for Kaapenaars as Cape Town's port now ranks the absolute worst in the world - what an utter disgrace !!!

Naturalisation takes years in any country - you have to complete the qualifying period first - which I have done
When I became increasingly involved in politics, I started the process - the loser is not primarily SA (I am tax payer), it is me - I cannot vote or stand for election
No taxation without representation? Well, that is my lot
@ignis_fatui@MarkDC44424252@MduduziMats I have applied, years ago - you clearly have no idea how dysfunctional home affairs is (or you haven't thought it through)
Like so many others, I am still waiting
ICYMI: Self-determination is an undeniable right binding upon all states - no constitution or law of parliament can lawfully negate or diminish it
CIAG responds to ANC-aligned think tank and explains to them why "SA is one, sovereign, democratic state" changes nothing

Western Cape to go it alone on US trade?
@Sakeliga & @RussLamberti proposed it, @RobertHersov supports it, @alanwinde appears to be positively inclined towards it
Read Hersov's article in @BizNewsCOM and watch Lamberti's interview (both linked below)
WE ARE NOT POWERLESS !!!
This is a long letter, but you should take the time to read it. We think of SA as a unitary state, and of ourselves as powerless, but we are not
The only thing between us and a brighter future is understanding and asserting our right to self-determination (be that via Cape Independence, federalism, devolved powers, cultural autonomy or other)
At the moment WE are empowering the ANC through our inaction
OPEN LETTER: CIAG responds to ANC-aligned think tank on the ethics & constitutional viability of Cape Independence
