Our imagination of how to govern the safety of young people and drugs is limited by thinking of safety as all-or-nothing. Drawing inspo from policy areas where safety can be made ‘relative’ (reducing risk/harm) opens up opportunities to make them *safer*. @VolpeIsabelle
It details the benefits of peer-based interventions for decreasing harms & improving nightlife safety, including by filling a critical care gap in the NTE, deescalating conflict & preventing criminalisation, & triaging /facilitating the provision of higher level medical support
In case anyone is still on this site: very happy our latest piece on key stakeholder and program user perspectives regarding a peer-based nightlife safe space/ roving ambassador program has been published open access.

Really enjoyed this chat with @24hournation about the need to consider the way policies and interventions interact in #nightlife settings to ensure we deliver more connected #harmreduction systems. Ps. harm reduction does not look to stop use (a comment edited out).
Here's an opportunity to rethink how we go about creating safe spaces inside and outside of nightlife businesses and venues.
Just dropped, our latest podcast with Dr. @phillipwadds has us rethinking the term "harm reduction." Listen up: https://t.co/2G2Lw8ILMB
What a great day of stakeholder engagement! This really is the most rewarding part of my job - delivering 15 years of research to a forum of people from across ACT Government responsible for designing and implementing nightlife policy

I’m excited to be speaking alongside thought leaders from around the world. The agenda is jam-packed, so looking forward to sharing ideas and innovations around the best global night-time economy initiatives at the NEON forum #NEONSYDNEY2023
Canberra Marathon ✅
Busted foot at 18km & it rained for the entire 42, but got there! There really aren’t words enough to thank Shell, the kids, mum, dad & the Southside crew for getting me through this. Shell has put up with long hours with the kids so I can do stupid things
A massive thank you to everyone who has already generously donated, but if anyone else would like to jump on, here is the link: https://t.co/Alym1CdYzP
🧵Tomorrow is Run2Cure, an event very dear to my family. It raises funds for Neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer my nephew, one of the great inspirations in my life, had aged 3. Below is a picture of Wesley running the event last year, aged 8. 1/2
We know how lucky we are to be able to run with Wesley, but many others are not as fortunate with this cancer-aggressive Neuroblastoma has a survival rate of 1 in 2. Tomorrow I am running 10km in support of this charity & backing this up with the Canberra Marathon (April 16) 2/3
@TPassenger1 There are some good new policy initiatives to protect against sound/noise complaint that will hopefully pave the path to sorting some of this.
Sydney & NSW have made major strides in revitalizing nightlife after a period of sustained regulation completely floored our urban night-time economy. To keep the momentum going we need thoughtful, evidence-based policy. This sounds like a good start https://t.co/X17UVa9psp
