We are heartbroken to share that we have said goodbye to our African lion, Makini.

Our animal care team had been closely monitoring him since the death of his longtime partner, Tajiri, in November 2025. 1/5

Makini was well loved by so many, known for his strong personality, and was especially beloved for his tongue that would stick out ever so slightly while he was resting. He served as an incredible ambassador for his species for the hundreds of thousands of guests who met him. 4/5

Happy World Lizard Day!

Reggie is a Caiman lizard, the largest lizard at the Zoo. This species is found in South America, can grow to be 4 ft. long, and is excellent at climbing and swimming. Reggie also has an excellent smile 😊 Meet him inside the Reptile & Amphibian House!
