The 1989 Pink Floyd concert, staged on a floating platform in Venice, remains one of rock history’s most legendary—and controversial—live events.
Today in 1995, Pink Floyd released P.U.L.S.E. in the UK. The CD included a flashing red LED light. Nick Mason explained: ‘Essentially, it's a device which we thought was entertaining. It's an idea of Storm Thorgerson's which related to Dark Side and the pulse, and it's a live album so the box is “alive”. After that, in terms of seriously deep meanings, one might be struggling a bit.’ Here's an unusual image of the eyeballs in a forest:

Have you spotted the Pink Floyd plaque along London's Regent Street, near the BBC building? Here's Roger and Nick at the unveiling on this day 11 years ago; what do you think is being said?
Another Tuesday Teaser for you: which song, that includes producer Norman Smith on backing vocals, went under the working title of "The Most Boring Song I've Ever Heard Bar Two"?
This concert, advertised as a Barn Dance, was actually held on a farm in Wales! Run by the local police force, tickets could be bought at the police station...an unusual place to secure your place at a gig.
My dear friend Dick Parry died this morning.
Since I was seventeen, I have played in bands with Dick on saxophone, including Pink Floyd.
His feel and tone make his saxophone playing unmistakable, a signature of enormous beauty that is known to millions and is such a big part of songs such as Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here, Us and Them and Money.
He played in the last band I had that included Rick Wright for the On An Island Tour and at Live 8 with Pink Floyd.
Here are some pictures of him, including one of him and me playing for the ABC Minors at the Victoria Cinema in Cambridge in 1963.

In May 1967, this wasn't the only show the Floyd performed in a venue with a flower related name (Floral Hall) - later in the month they played at the Tulip Bulb Auction Hall in Spalding, Lincolnshire! The month before (April), they played the Floral Hall in Belfast, which was part of Belfast Zoo...
Today in 1973 Pink Floyd performed a pair of shows at Earls Court in London to raise much needed funds for Shelter, the homelessness charity. Record Mirror called it "a Floyd triumph" and noted that "heavenly sounds [invaded] every fibre of consciousness..." The event programme unusually had a scrapbook format.
