We'd much prefer to contribute to more positive stories about active travel in Merton - maybe next time, especially if the Walking and Cycling Strategy is ambitious.

Good to see lack of public toilet provision noted as a barrier to active travel in @CMO_England's annual report. In our London Loos campaign & our work w/ the London Loo Alliance we know how important provision is when it comes to public health & health equity @Listen_toLocals
“Making walking and cycling more practical and safer, and access to green space easier and more equitable, would go a long way toward removing barriers to improving physical activity levels and could significantly improve the health of England’s increasingly urban population.”
(1/6) Cities bring particular challenges and opportunities for the health of those who live, work and study in them.
This CMO annual report explores what we can do to improve health in cities:

@H_Galliven1@CyclingMerton@GroupMerton@MarkGale Thanks so much for your coverage of the issues, Harrison! It's great to have a local journalist who takes a keen interest in what's going on.
It was an honour to represent @TheGreenParty at the national Remembrance ceremony at the cenotaph this morning. And after observing the minute's silence and the laying of wreaths, I walked from Whitehall to Tavistock Square to join the alternative Remembrance ceremony organised by @PPUtoday to remember all victims of war, of all nationalities, and lay #WhitePoppies.
At this time of escalating conflict I think it's more important than ever to not only remember the fallen - military and civilian - but to remember the original message of the Armistice, 'Never again', and to work for global peace.
7 years on from the Paulley v Firstgroup ruling, which affirmed bus drivers’ duty to ask those with buggies to vacate the wheelchair space, this is still a weekly occurrence.
Why am I regularly refused access to a bus and forced to wait for a 2nd or 3rd? Why does nothing change?
I’m sleeping outside on November 9th to raise awareness and money for amazing SW London homeless charities @DonsLocalAction 🙌 I would love it if you could support me and them 👇! https://t.co/eBpVt8U2iz
If you volunteer with Dons Local Action, you make a very real and very quick impact on lives in our community. Today, a referrer wrote this message to us, and it's absolutely heartwarming!
If you have a little time to help, please get in touch at [email protected] or https://t.co/shNU6t0Il2
Abel & Cole volunteers alongside DLAG Hubsters helping OUR COMMUNITY 💛💙
@AbelandCole is one of our incredible partners: regularly donating fruits & vegetables, providing delicious lunch for our volunteers, and volunteering themselves. This is a brilliant example of a community oriented business!
Thank you so much!
DLAG volunteers Steve and Val attended a very busy ‘Part Time Jobs and Student Support Fair’ at the University of Roehampton yesterday. They spoke to the students about DLAG’s work and impact in the local community and how they might get involved.
Steve said: “Val and I were initially nervous as we did not know what to expect and knew that many students would be looking for paid work. We were pleasantly surprised by the interest shown by the students who stopped to talk to us. We took contact details for around 15 people interested in volunteering and many others picked up leaflets.”
Thank you to Steve and Val for brilliantly representing DLAG and to the University of Roehampton for inviting us along 💛💙

We've long been one of the bodies to question the 'energy from waste' argument used to justify the use of the Beddington incinerator in the South London Waste Partnership. Air pollution and stagnant recycling rates made us suspect that we were being had.

A thread on what's happened at @afcwimbledon, drawing on a few years experience working on flooding.
#AFCW
Despite reports, I don't think the flooding was from the River Wandle....
🧵
'...we highlighted our years of experience on the site, recalling the countless times that the stadium and car park were flooded.
... developers, the council, City Hall and the Environment Agency were all warned about the dangers of future flooding.'

❌ 100 days and only *a letter* to show for it.
@UKLabour certainly *didn't* hit the ground running on the building safety crisis. It's not a Government priority and it shows.
Ask anyone who is trapped in a dangerous building or has a flat they can't remortgage or sell.
Food security is going to be a problem for UK.
Think other countries will share when they are starving?
Wrong.
Harvest in England the second worst on record because of wet weather.
