How is the Government not panicking about this? They say we want growth and Britain to be the best place in the world to start a business.

But what is the point of creating world-class British companies if, when they become successful, they list abroad.

Nscale is British. Headquartered in London. Potentially worth around $30 BILLION. It is listing in New York.

Sadly, this perhaps shouldn’t surprise us when London once one of the great financial centres of the world, fell to 23rd globally for IPOs last year, behind Mexico and Oman.
This needs reversing asap. This government needs to understand, that capital and enterprise go where they are wanted. Not where they are punished and treated as the enemy.

How the hell does someone “illegally access” Deliveroo’s platform, put on Deliveroo kit and start operating as a Deliveroo rider?

That isn’t an explanation. That’s the scandal.

To anyone seeing Salem Rekoub, he looked like a delivery rider. He was wearing the kit. He was apparently able to operate through the system. Deliveroo now says he wasn’t verified and had “abused” its systems.
He then went on to rape a woman while wearing Deliveroo kit.
You don’t get to say: he wasn’t really one of ours and move on.

How did he get access? Whose account was he using? How did your security fail to detect him? And most importantly: how many more are there?

Deliveroo owes its customers a duty of care over the safety of a service that sends people directly to their homes.

These riders know where we live. They come to our front doors, sometimes late at night. Women living alone open the door to them. Families open the door to them.

Taxi and private-hire drivers face extensive identity, licensing and criminal-record checks. Yet here we have a man Deliveroo says wasn’t even verified apparently operating in its uniform and through its system.

And I regularly see delivery riders in my area, roaming the streets in full balaclava, even in peak summer.

Deliveroo saying it is now “putting systems in place” isn’t enough.

This needs a full audit. How many unverified people have accessed the platform? How widespread is account sharing? Can Deliveroo identify every person currently delivering under its name?

If it has grown its network beyond its ability to control who is actually using it, reduce the number of riders until it can.

And if Deliveroo cannot guarantee that the person it sends to your front door is the person it has verified, then it should cease trading until it can.

You don’t get to send strangers to people’s homes, discover your verification system can be circumvented and say, effectively, “Oops, sorry.”

A 13-year-old girl was raped. Police had CCTV of two men they wanted to identify. The public sees it TWO YEARS later.

That is not good enough.

If police cannot identify suspected rapists themselves, put the images out and let the public help identify them. That should be an urgent part of the investigation not an appeal two years down the line.

Every day you wait is another day for suspects to disappear or offend again.

And this isn’t happening against some backdrop of rare offending. Rape is being reported in London at the rate of one every hour.

Meanwhile this girl, who was just 13, has spent two years living in fear. Her family says she no longer feels safe being alone.

Two years is far too long. The Met has to be better at this.

Suspected rapists need to be identified and found. When police have exhausted immediate identification routes, get their faces in front of the public quickly.

Tory-led Wandsworth Council has announced a staggering 94% council tax hike, the biggest council tax rise in history.

Already struggling households will be forced to find almost £1,000 extra a year.

But take a look at the eye-watering sums paid to senior council officers last year.

Wandsworth Council paid its then Deputy Chief Executive Ana Popovici £278,643 in total remuneration in 2025/26. That’s more than seven times the UK’s average full-time salary and over £100,000 more than the Prime Minister.

The Tories simply cannot be trusted with taxpayers’ money.
