The “Earth” in the movie is our simulated reality. The spaceship is the construct you are currently living inside. The amnesia is the veil. The lone teacher waking up with no memory is you, the ordinary human avatar who volunteered to forget everything so he could remember from within the dream.

The mission to save the Sun is the mission to reactivate the living Christ light (the 999 frequency) before the artificial simulation fully collapses.
