Power supply has been restored to all impacted customers in the Longreach, Blackall, Barcaldine and Clermont areas.
The outage was caused by a piece of failed equipment at our Lilyvale Substation, near Emerald. Emergency repairs are underway but all customers are now back online. We appreciate your patience.
Powerlink is aware of a fault at our Lilyvale substation which has caused a loss of power supply to Longreach, Barcaldine, Blackall and Clermont, as well as some smaller townships in the area.
A Powerlink crew is currently on site investigating the issue. We will provide updates on power restoration timeframes as soon as possible. Learn more: https://t.co/8qu1GQImTw
Thanks to a break in the weather, we have completed on-ground and helicopter inspections following Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Our crews are happy to report no damage to the electricity transmission network, despite the severity of this weather event.
While the cyclone has passed and floodwaters receded, many in our community are still dealing with fallen trees, flooding impacts, and structural damage at homes and businesses. If you still require assistance from the #SES, visit https://t.co/CSPY5SbStU, download the #Queensland SES assistance app, or call 132 500.

The state’s south-east is still feeling the impacts of a serious weather event, with flooding a significant concern today and into this week. Flood waters and electricity are a dangerous combination, and everyone needs to understand the risks. Please remember:
⚡ In flood conditions boats may unintentionally come closer to overhead transmission lines than in normal situations. We ask boat users to exercise greater caution during flood conditions.
⚡ Always assume transmission lines and electrical equipment are live. Stay well clear.
⚡For life threatening situations immediately call Triple Zero (000).
⚡ If you see powerlines hanging lower than usual call Powerlink on 1800 353 031.
Above all, stay alert, stay safe, and report hazards immediately.

Powerlink is assessing the impact of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred after the system crossed the coast overnight.
We will continue to closely monitor the network for possible impacts from strong winds, rainfall and flooding as the weather system moves across south-east Queensland.
If you see fallen powerlines, stay well clear, warn others about the danger and call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
We will continue to provide updates here and on our website https://t.co/L1pTRmiiNc.

As Tropical Cyclone Alfred approaches the Queensland coast, it is important to remember that flood waters and electricity are a dangerous combination. Here are some safety tips to remember:
⚡For life threatening situations immediately call Triple Zero (000).
⚡If you see damaged transmission towers or powerlines hanging lower than usual call Powerlink on 1800 353 031 or Energex on 13 19 62.
⚡Keep your distance. Always assume transmission lines and electrical equipment, in the air or fallen, are live and deadly. Never approach fallen or damaged transmission infrastructure. Stay at least ten metres away. Electricity can arc through the air and cause electrocution.
⚡Do not attempt to remove debris or trees which may have fallen across lines as they could also be ‘live’ with electricity.
⚡Boats used in flood conditions may unintentionally come closer to overhead transmission lines than in normal conditions. Boat users must exercise greater caution during flood conditions. Never steer your boat across transmission lines in floodwaters. Keep at least 12 metres away from transmission lines and towers.
⚡Never drive your vehicle over fallen transmission lines or through flood waters. If a transmission line lands on your vehicle, stay inside and call for help. If a life-threatening situation occurs, jump out of the vehicle with both feet together and hop at least 10 metres away, keeping both feet together to avoid electric shock.
Above all, stay alert, stay safe, and report hazards immediately.
If there are any impacts to our transmission network, we will publish updates here, and on our website: https://t.co/L1pTRmiiNc

Powerlink Queensland continues to monitor the electricity transmission network as Tropical Cyclone Alfred approaches the South East Queensland coast.
High winds, debris and flooding presents a risk to our network.
The safety of our people and the community is paramount. Our field crews are prepared, but can only respond to any outage when it is safe to do so.
Identifying and assessing damage in the cyclone’s aftermath can take some time. Ongoing severe weather conditions make this difficult, but we will respond as soon as we can.
With conditions expected to worsen, we are continuing to work closely with @Energex , @ErgonEnergy and emergency services.
If there are any impacts to our transmission network, we will publish updates here and on our website https://t.co/L1pTRmiiNc.

Powerlink Queensland continues to carefully monitor the progress of Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Gale force winds, flying debris and flooding can impact the high voltage transmission network, and it is difficult to predict where this may occur.
We have several transmission lines and substations located in the cyclone impact area and are ready if there are any impacts to the network. Crews are on standby to respond as soon as it is safe to do so.
Be aware that ongoing severe weather and road closures can hamper access and make response efforts challenging for crews responding to any impacted areas. As an essential service provider, we understand the importance of restoring power supply and will continue working closely with @Energex and @ErgonEnergy.
We will continue to keep the community updated on any impacts and restoration efforts on our website https://t.co/L1pTRmiiNc as well as this X account.
In the event of a life-threatening situation, always call Triple Zero (000) and stay well clear of fallen powerlines.
To report fallen transmission lines or other damage to the transmission network, call Powerlink on 1800 353 031.
