@EThorntonGHS@Migas4Edu @PRHSspanish I feel this! I taught K-8 Spanish as a department of one for a catholic school. My 1st public school interview I felt incompetent not knowing there was more beyond grammar, but I am grateful today for my PLN (Twitter in particular) for helping me learn there was more out there!
@PRHSspanish I agree with this not taking ourselves so seriously take. I laughed knowing it was poking fun at myself but if anything is makes me proud thinking about how far our profession has come. We should celebrate that we are trying to make world language more communicative & realistic.
@colansen@TeachRBT although these particular students I reference here happen to be from before coming to Natick, you @colansen were essential to helping me develop an even stronger passion for teaching once I got here.
Thanks to you, I learned even more ways to reach students.
So thank YOU.
Kind of loving working on these slides for our upcoming 8th grade "chillin" unit. Trying to use colors to help my Ss more strategically build their proficiency + enrich their sentences w. details. I know they are capable, I just need to do better laying the foundation for them!
Clearly I need some practice with threads as I should have added 2/2. Had too much to say about this topic. Gracias Abelardo, even on my toughest days of teaching, this change in my practice reminds me I am making a difference.
Wednesday reflections: I can be very exigente (English word doesn't suffice here) with myself, but as I am in a unit in 7th grade about emotions, giving students non-binary options for language like saying "estoy contente", I have to give a huge thank you to @AbelardoAlmazan 1/2
bc I realized that I am using this inclusive language SO naturally in my practice now. While many in the Span.speaking world do not believe in adding e or x to words, I am committed to normalizing it for ALL of my students. We owe it to them. Gracias de corazón @AbelardoAlmazan
@MmeBlouwolff @cultofpedagogy We are learning to talk about our birthdays soon in 7th so I am so thankful you tweeted this awesome ideas…as you can tell I got excited and got right to it, merci!!! :
We had such a blast playing @gimkit Draw That! mode today for our "Fun Friday" This mode really helps students stay true to proficiency by making connections between the Target Language and imagery without relying on English. And the improvements in our spelling?! GAME. CHANGER.
One of my awesome 8th grade students surprised me with w/ a Señor Wooly poster today! She asked her mom to order it because she loves the whacky videos we use in Spanish class. Talk about an unexpected and lovely moment during a very difficult year. #relationshipsmatter
