I take your point, and "wide margin" is likely overstating things, but literally, the generic Democrat in this poll is up 10 points over Collins! And she's 16 points underwater in favorability.
I get that people think Collins is invincible because she won such a surprising victory in 2020, but the larger point is that in this current political environment, with Collins' unfavorabilities as high as they are, she should be the most vulnerable incumbent in the country ... and she likely would be losing by more than 2 points in the polls to a milquetoast, non-controversial Democrat.
Breaking on MS NOW: Donald Trump was just "thunderously booed" during the National Anthem at the NBA Finals in New York, according to the pool report.
He was shown on the Jumbotron and then booed so much that the shot was taken down.
One of the underappreciated aspects of the Platner candidacy is that if he loses and it costs Democrats the Senate ... the intra-party recriminations will go on for years, and they will be ugly AF.
Of course, if he wins ... they'll also be ugly, just from a different ideological direction.
I keep seeing this argument from
Platner-apologists that they are sticking with him because it’s so important to beat Susan Collins …. if they really thought that they wouldn’t be rallying around a candidate with as many obvious vulnerabilities as Platner, especially in a blue state like Maine and in a political environment that strongly favors Democrats.
It makes me think that for a lot of these folks the priority really isn’t beating Collins.
It’s pretty amazing/depressing to consider that pretty much every national Democrat called on Ralph Northam to resign as governor of Virginia because of a blackface picture from college … and none of them will call on Platner to drop out for a Nazi tattoo he had last year
This is really the end of the conversation. Platner can’t explain why his ex-girlfriend knew about his Nazi tattoo before he claims he knew because HE’S CLEARLY LYING
The Kennedy Center is beginning the process of removing references to Trump — a week after a federal judge ruled that his name had been illegally added to the performing arts center.
