On September 9, 2026, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that the state's 2021 sex offender law can't be applied to anyone whose crime happened before July 1, 2011.
Two days later, State Police pulled more than 20,000 people off the list. The registry had held about 43,000 names, so nearly half of it vanished.
