Honored to spend time with students at Diamond Star Academy learning about gratitude. I’m committed to making sure young people feel seen, heard, and supported. Through efforts like the Waterloo Youth City Council, we’re giving students a voice and empowering them.
I volunteered with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank today for the holiday meal distribution. With so many families still struggling, this work matters more than ever.
Grateful for the staff and volunteers who help ensure every neighbor has a meal—and hope—this season.
I spent time this week with students in Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates (iJAG). I’m grateful for the chance to soon be interviewed by them as well. iJAG gives our students leadership skills, confidence, and real-world experiences. I hope to inspire them through my own journey.
Proud to join the ribbon-cutting for REM Iowa Developmental Services. Their work gives individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities for connection, growth, and socialization… building a stronger, more inclusive Waterloo. #CommunityofOpportunity
Honored to recognize Joyce Oaks for 15 years of service as President of the Highland Neighborhood Association. Her leadership has strengthened Highland and our entire city. Thank you, Joyce, for your dedication to making Waterloo stronger and more connected.

Honored to help kick off the 37th Annual Festival of Tree
This event has raised nearly $2M over the years to support exceptional care across Northeast Iowa.
Grateful for the volunteers, sponsors, and Friends of @MercyOne_Iowa for making this tradition possible.
Honored to join Payne AME for their historic mortgage burning ceremony. I was grateful to read a proclamation celebrating 100+ years of their faith, service & leadership in Waterloo. Thank you Bishop Wright, Pastor Daniel, and the Payne AME family for inviting me.
Great time at Absolute Pro Wrestling’s event Saturday night at the Cedar Valley Sportsplex!
Awesome to see families having fun & even better to see so much food donated for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.

Honored to attend UNI’s Veterans Night Out at the Sullivan Bros. IA Veterans Museum. Grateful for every hero who has served our country.
This event was especially meaningful as my father-in-law, a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, joined me along with my mother-in-law.

Wrapped up another great season of our Mayor’s More Than Basketball Youth League. Grateful for every staff member, sponsor, coach, ref, parent—and especially the kids—who made it happen.
These young people played hard, had fun, and learned the value of teamwork.
Today was meaningful on so many levels. On Veterans Day, we honored two of the greatest soldiers IA ever produced, Major Curly Hultman (posthumously) & Major David Cole. It was my first time meeting Gen. Cole, and I’ve been blessed to know Gen. Hultman and his family for years.
Our youth deserve to be seen, supported, and lifted up. Creating the Waterloo Youth City Council was my way of making sure their voices are heard.
When we pour into our young people, like these two job shadows, the whole community rises. #FutureLeaders
