🌍 GEF Assembly 2026
As the Global Environment Facility Assembly in Samarkand comes to a close, Dr Musonda Mumba, Secretary General Convention on Wetlands underscored a critical reality: nature-negative finance is still 30x higher than investments in nature-based solutions, while the nature finance gap reaches $351B annually.
The message is clear: we must invest not just more, but smarter.
Wetlands stand out as powerful, integrated solutions—supporting biodiversity, climate action, water security, food systems, and human well-being in one investment.
As we welcome GEF-9’s focus on nature-positive, integrated approaches, the call is for stronger alignment across sectors—and greater collaboration.
No single actor can solve today’s environmental challenges alone. But together, through smart investments and partnerships, transformative change is within reach.
