Restaurants Canada applauds this intiative by @AndyFillmoreHFX. Great to see Mayor Fillmore acknowledge the economic impact of the restaurant industry in Halifax.

It's smile cookie week so I stopped in to @TimHortons while in St. John's to get mine!
A Smile Cookie is more than just a treat. 100% of proceeds are donated to local charities, hospitals, food banks, and community groups across Canada.
Great to meet with Ministers @ZackBellPEI and Jenn Redmond in Charlottetown this morning.
The restaurant industry is an economic powerhouse on PEI employing over 6,000 islanders.
Thanks to @Kent_Scales for providing a local perspective.
That's right. Restaurants employ nearly 1.2 million workers in Canada. That number represents 6% of the country's workforce and is greater than Real Estate, Forestry, Utilities, Agriculture, Fishing, Mining, Oil and Gas Extraction industries COMBINED. Talk about a powerhouse industry! Our impact runs deep.

Rural restaurants are waiting to hear from provincial governments on whether they will receive a temporary reprieve for their labour force challenges through the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) cap increase, says Restaurants Canada.
On March 13, the federal government announced it would temporarily increase the cap on TFWs in rural regions experiencing severe labour shortages, but only if the province officially requests it. While April 1 was the first day employers could potentially participate in this change, most have yet to hear from their provincial governments.

Restaurants Canada has been calling for a targeted approach to immigration that includes taking into account the needs of rural, remote and tourism areas, where the pool of qualified or available workers can be insufficient or where needs may vary by time of year. Access to a reliable and predictable source of labour is essential to the economic and social fabric of these communities. TFWs account for just 3% of our workforce but help fill critical gaps that allow restaurants to continue operating and provide jobs for Canadians.

Congrats @RobLantz on winning the PEI PC leadership & becoming Premier. @RestaurantsCA looks forward to working with you to protect foodservice viability & help PEI’s restaurant industry thrive for communities & the economy.
Policy needs to meet the moment we are in: address affordability, stimulate growth, create youth jobs. Cut the GST on all food. Thanks @FoodProfessor for keeping this front and centre.

Fueling communities, one job at a time. The foodservice industry — Canada's fourth-largest employer — is a powerful engine for the economy, offering opportunities across the board.
It was a pleasure to attend the State of the Province 2026 last night hosted by the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce.
Great to hear from the Premier about where we're at and what's ahead.
Got up bright and early for a marathon of interviews this morning. 14 radio stations and 1 TV apperance.
We're sounding the alarm. The restaurant industry is in crisis. 41% of restaurants in Canada aren't profitable (that was 12% in 2019) with no reprieve in sight!
Thanks to my colleague @RCFederalCA for being my partner in crime this morning! He also spoke to 14 radio stations across the country!
