We are relentlessly focused on attracting more exceptionally talented faculty, staff and students to SMU and today, we have an important addition to our leadership team as part of that effort! We are thrilled to welcome Sophie Rohnke as @SMU's new Vice President for Legal Affairs and Government Relations, General Counsel, and Secretary to the Board of Trustees, beginning August 1.
Sophie is an accomplished attorney and trusted advisor who will help SMU as we advance our strategic priorities across academics, research, athletics, exceptional experiences and community engagement. Her intelligence, principled leadership, breadth of expertise and passion for our mission help make her an ideal choice.

At SMU, we believe excellence in athletics and academics should go hand in hand.
As the landscape of college sports continues to change, we must build a framework that expands opportunities for student-athletes, preserves broad-based athletic programs and supports the long-term mission of higher education.
When college athletics works well, it opens doors for students, strengthens institutions and creates communities that extend far beyond the playing field.

Excited to launch The Dallas Office at SMU, a bold new initiative designed to strengthen collaboration with Dallas-based corporations, civic organizations and community partners while expanding access to the University’s talent, research and expertise.
The Dallas Office will serve as our front door to the city and region and will expand opportunities for our students, faculty and partners.
I’m thrilled to share that Kit Sawers has been named CEO of the office and a vice president of the University and will lead this work forward.
She will start on August 3, and I couldn’t be more excited for her to hit the ground running in this defining moment for Dallas and SMU! https://t.co/7J2PLXgZhl
