OTD 44 years ago #RoyalFleetAuxiliary SIR GALAHAD and SIR TRISTRAM were attacked by Argentine aircraft and suffered severe loss of life, RFA and Welsh Guards, while offloading at Bluff Cove 🇫🇰. The incident remains vivid in the minds of the people present on that fateful day.
No @RFAHeadquarters vessels about today but an INBOUND to D-Buoy in Plymouth Sound threads it's way through numerous pleasure craft on the very sunny and warm Bank Holiday Monday .
RFANostalgia has been around for ~20 yrs & refits (Full, AMP or SMP) have been rare. SMP means no drydocking, just paint! Latest SMP has just been done and it now has a fresh coat of paint to hide all the old rust that lies behind :-)

OTD xxxxx years ago #RoyalFleetAuxiliary TARBATNESS. No date information but think 1974🇳🇿 based on the tug. NESS would have been wonderful names for FSS; 3 ships in a single class, not a mish mash, stores ships not ammunition ships. Hey ho.
