Meet Radha Kumar. Chidambaram appointed interlocutor on Kashmir in 2010. @PChidambaram_IN can only tell what qualification was required for interlocutor. If a person can't distinguish between Habba Kadal and Safa Kadal, how can they be interlocutors for Kashmir.
I say with lot of personal experience that a lot of Roganjosh and Goshtaba was consumed whenever the interlocutors would come to kashmir. The mutton prices would escalate exponentially on their visit. That was their only contribution. #Dulat @thewire_in

August 5, 2019 will forever remain one of the darkest chapters in the political history of Jammu & Kashmir.

A day our constitutional safeguards were arbitrarily dismantled, our State was bifurcated and downgraded to a Union Territory, and millions of people woke up to find that decisions of immense consequence had been taken without our participation or consent.

For us, this was not a legal or legislative exercise. It was a political assault on our collective identity, dignity, democratic rights and a relationship of trust that must exist between the people and the Constitution.

History does not forget. Neither will the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

Undoubtedly a day will come when Jammu & Kashmir regains its constitutional status and democratic empowerment that our people deserve and not as a favour from any government, but as a matter of justice and what is rightfully owed to us.

What happened on August 5, 2019, was a systematic assault on the relationship between the Union of India and Jammu and Kashmir. Seven years later, the sweeping crackdown on political activity and democratic expression continues. Ironically, this is being projected as one of the BJP government’s biggest achievements.

The BJP has yet to come to terms with the 2024 popular mandate in Jammu and Kashmir. Despite repeatedly promising the restoration of statehood, it has failed to deliver. Instead, it continues to rely on strong-arm methods to shrink space for dissent and stifle press freedom.

It does not. My personal view is that we should ask for a step beyond. Recognition of Maharaja and a separate statehood for Jammu. Kashmir has the capability of deciding what it wants. It is the same Kashmir which threw 5 lakh kashmiri hindus out of their ancestral land within a night time. Let them decide.
