SFF writer, editor, & teacher. BLOOD STATE out from @renaissancepre1. MFA in Fiction @MFAatUNevada. Stories in @AurealisMag, @GrimDarkMag & more. Bird nerd.
Spotted this under the Gardner, and the QR code leads to a research project about the subconscious and dreams...? The morning after I had a weird-ass dream, too! https://t.co/qAJRMWINqY @Toronto, anyone know what this is?? #1TOEXIST#WritingCommunity
@JameyanneFuller @IlanaMiraL It is a comma splice. Let's not be dogmatic; yes, the second half is technically not an independent clause. However, it does have the implied "he" subject. Consider: "Do your homework!" This also has an implied "you" subject. So it IS a comma splice, but also: ok in fiction! Yay!
VOL. 1: END is OUT NOW.

220+ pages of art and writing about when things end, how, by whose hand, from torturous breakdowns to brutal finality. Everything from "make it end" to "please don't stop".
PWYC/FREE.

@MagicalHippo A small press could be a better fit. I heard some... interesting things when volunteering for a lit. agency, and trust me: it's all business vs. what's really considered "good". On the other hand, most small presses get grants and don't focus so much on the profit aspect :)
@GretaHayer I've learned it is almost entirely arbitrary and about who you know, the right time/place, and how much time you have for conventions. These last years have been brutal for debuts, partly because of COVID. Your time will come and you are NOT doing anything wrong <3
Hey #WritingCommunity! I've joined @Wattpad to share a novel that I wrote before my MFA, before my debut publication -- just for fun. It explores betrayal, love/hate, and found family. Find me under the name Falkimz; I'll follow back :)
@karakentley Romance is one of the bestselling genres. I really am over people trying to gatekeep "good" or "worthwhile" literature. Who is anyone to presume to be the Arbiter of Worth?? (Rant over. Keep writing!)
@mikewritesalot This was my worst year ever for writing. I felt uninspired, demotivated, and foolish every time I even tried to write vs. to work extra for more money. I hope for a factory reset next year. If you felt down, you're not alone!
@ceager4life V for Vendetta. All the female characters are weak and exceptionally cliché in the graphic novel; you could cut half of them without a hitch in the plot (and that's just what the film had to do).
@CatherineBowse2 It really does bother me, but I'm a writing and English teacher. It's to be avoided not just because it's a POV shift and incorrect, but because it can come off as sounding juvenile and awkward
@egreeniewrites I once had an agent tell me that I need to "proofread" because I spelled it like "grey." Um... ok, I guess that's anti-Canadian sentiment, then 🤣
