If this use continues for another year without Council enforcement, the 10-year rule might make it permanent.
This site is not the right for this use. It has no dedicated car parking spaces, close to 2 primary schools.
The Council have said that: “It is unclear whether the existing use of the first floor as a mosque / community centre is a lawful use in planning terms… The applicant is advised to regularise the existing use of the first floor through the submission of a planning application.”
But the Council still granted planning permission in 2025 for a fire escape at the building. They need reminding of their duty to control planning breaches.
This campaign has 2 phases: first, to ask the Council to investigate and, if necessary, enforce; second, to respond to the retrospective planning application which the Council may the mosque to submit. I am asking you for donations toward the out-of-pocket expenses of phase 1, i.e. £2,000.
