Elmer Schuck was how I found the new first mention of George, sometimes the search feature is imperfect so its important to search names that are likely associated because it's fruitful more often than you'd think
He drops out of the newspaper for a couple months but shows up as a possible entrant for a tippacanoe county fairground race and then i got sucked down a rabbit hole of who i believe his car owner/builder at the time was (a man named Elmer Schuck).
The lap prize money didn't come from IMS, instead in the 1920's at least, it was raised by a committee. Businesses would sponsor a lap. However for whatever reason in 1925, only 160 laps were covered so I believe only the lap leaders for the first 160 laps got the money
A little context on "the hundred bucks", Pete was talking about the lap prizes which were $100 for every (almost every in 1925) lap lead. Pete ended up earning an additional $8,800 from leading laps. (An extra ~$167k in today's money)
