Two factors developing that have to drive prices lower. Russia cannot keep this up much longer. Putin said on a stage interview 10 days ago he’s now willing to entertain the U.S. off-ramp terms. That will impact oil price dramatically when Russia and Ukraine quit fighting, which i believe will be sooner rather than later.
If the Houthis are defeated by the Yemen-Saudi-Pakistan coalition, Iran will be out of proxies. Without a threat to the Al-Mandab strait, and a reduced threat to the east-west pipeline, combined with Iran with no oil revenue or income, oil will fall.
Gasoline and diesel are downstream of oil, but market forces will eventually catch up on refining.
Bottom line is the question of whether the volatility was worth it is a resounding yes with a Middle East free of the biggest sponsor or terrorism in the world.
Must reading if you want to understand why oil is falling again, and why it should fall a lot in the next few days. Much more news on this front coming.
