Fingers crossed 🤞
Hope not out.
I want you to understand what Pakistan has been doing. Its not the role of a simple mediator. I don't know what should be the proper word for that role but let me explain it.
We have been taking US demands, negotiating with the US to cut them down to make them acceptable to the Iranians and then also engaging with Iranians for their demands and then cutting them down to the levels Americans would be able to accept. The equation was that both Tehran and Washington needed to take something that would make their home audience claim victory. Both JD Vance and Qalibaf would only agree on something that they would see as a win otherwise they wouldn't.
So we are not just mediating, we are negotiating with the US (knowing the red lines of Iran) and then negotiating with Iranians (knowing the red lines of USA) and it's a much complex role that we have been playing for the sake of Peace. Good thing is even if there is no accord yet, the world acknowledges what we have pulled off so far. And if Allah willed, we will succeed in extending the ceasefire and reaching something for the world.
To cut down oil prices of a common Pakistani, American, European, Srilankan, Malaysian etc,
To keep the global economy running in shape, to prevent massive downsizing in Gulf and Europe because of the economic crisis.
I repeat, it's not just mediation, it's not plain diplomacy, its more than that that we worked on sincerely.
Also note, that we are in defence pact with Saudi Arabia that was hit by Iran multiple times in all this war and the only reason Saudi hasn't responded at all, is Pakistan. They respected our position and did not respond and we held them. As for Iran, it's our neighbour and brotherly Muslim country and we do not want any war in it, in fact we want de sanctioning of Iran so we can effectively trade with it including oil and gas and make things better for our people at home. Apart from that we need Iran to stay strong so no leverage is gained by the Israelis in encircling us through any puppet regimes. And that is why we tried our best to sincerely achieve an impossible feat over the last 24 hours.
What we did was not anyone's cup of tea. Islamabad talks are not done. We remain the peace consultants for both. We continue to work for a formula that both would accept to end this war.
Regards,
Abubakar
