Outside of journalism, I am a board member of @dmvdoesgood, an organization that works to end chronic poverty in the DMV. We are currently hosting a 10,000 Diapers & Wipes campaign.
I've just purchased $319 in diapers and wipes. You can help out as well! https://t.co/8hnD7E4JJu
I’m so proud of my @VCU_POLI student Ms. Kelsye Adams, a @DCVote statehood champion, and an excellent manager for the @Janeese4DC mayoral campaign!! You go girl!!!
Democratic socialist Janeese Lewis George is leading in the Democratic primary for mayor with 64% of votes counted.
She’s a third-generation Washingtonian with working-class roots. Here’s what else to know about her: https://t.co/jUbXThB2ER
NEWS: @kenyanmcduffie is conceding to @Janeese4DC in the D.C. mayoral primary election. He was down 16 points on Tuesday night with ballots left to count, but it seemed increasingly unlikely that he would close that gap.
We condemn the use of our members as political pawns. It has come to our attention that our members have appeared in multiple ads for Mayoral Candidate Kenyan McDuffie, despite the fact that WE HAVE NOT ENDORSED HIM. 🧵👇

New: @Janeese4DC just released an internal poll showing her up by 14 in the mayoral race: her lead stays at 12 even when they run a RCV simulation.
This is quite the change from the public poll of the race, but I will say I’ve heard rumors of private polls with similar results.
NEWS: In the first public poll of the D.C. mayoral race, @CityCast_DC finds that @Janeese4DC has a five-point lead over @kenyanmcduffie, just outside the margin of error. But: Ranked-choice voting could help McDuffie more; he's ahead on getting voters' second rankings.
Wow! I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a candidate outright lie that unions endorsed him that actually endorsed his opponents and send it en masse to voters. What are the legal and financial consequences for this? @Vote4DC@tomsherwood@maustermuhle@cuneytdil
New: DC's campaign finance office is none too pleased with @AUDCRESEARCH, the dark money group running ads against JLG.
After a former JLG staffer filed a complaint alleging it hasn't properly filed its disclosures, OCF wants it to fix those issues...or cease running ads.
I need y'all to understand that about 650,000 people are reported missing in the US every year, and most people are found relatively quickly. Black people go missing at a disproportionate rate, and Black cases are routinely deprioritized.
Presidential approval at this point during election years that saw major midterm shifts and the ultimate House results for their party:
Clinton '94: 51% (-52 seats)
Bush '06: 38% (-30 seats)
Obama '10: 50% (-63 seats)
Trump '18: 42% (-40 seats)
Trump '26: 37%
🇺🇸BREAKING: Louisiana Republicans just cancelled an active election.
Ballots already cast.
Votes already recorded.
All of it thrown out to redraw maps and eliminate Black majority districts.
Watch what democracy looks like when it’s being dismantled in real time. 👇
This is laughably absurd & another example of just bad reporting. There is no statistical difference between those two numbers, particularly at smaller narrow demographic sample sizes. To be clear, in the last 4 decades NO ONE has had worse numbers among Black voters than Trump
ICE take 10 year old boy to court to deport him—all alone without even a lawyer.
He urinated on himself and wet all his clothing—no one offered him a change for many hours.
"I was scared because it was my first time in court," he said.
Separated from his mom for 4 months now after she was detained during a traffic stop.
Wilfredo and his mother are originally from Venezuela with a pending asylum case.
ICE is now trying to deport him alone without legal representation to Ecuador—a country he's never been to and does not know a single person.
He is temporarily staying with his mom's former boss in Houston, Texas.
