Congratulations @narendramodi Ji Bharat Mata Ki Jai 🇮🇳🙏🏽
I recall - In September 2021, when much of the world still measured India by the scar of the pandemic, Prof. K.V. Subramanian @SubramanianKri said the line few were ready to hear: this would be India’s decade of inclusive growth, averaging more than 7 percent.
Five years later, the ledger is no longer a forecast. It is a record: 9.1% in FY 2021-22, 7.2% in FY 2022-23, 8.2% in FY 2023-24, 7.3% in FY 2024-25, 7.7% in FY 2025-26 — and today, 7.8% in Q1 of FY 2026-27, ahead of estimates and the RBI’s 7% call.
Foresight is not cheerleading. It is the discipline to read structural reform when others can only read the crisis. Prof. K saw the decade before the decade arrived. India is now living it.
India’s exemplary GDP growth of 7.8% during Q1 of FY 2026-27 is a herculean feat.
The collective strength of our people ensured India delivered such growth despite oil price shocks and supply chain issues in the midst of global uncertainties.
Doomsayers were doomed and India bloomed…yet again!
Arguments over India’s GDP growth numbers, data & new methodology, CEA V Anantha Nageswaran joins in - YouTube. Great views by our CEA https://t.co/cvTrfNxAmu
Former Finance Secretary Subhash Chandra Garg recently went on record with a wild claim: India's actual GDP growth is just 2.6%, not the official 7.8%.
Naturally, many critics claimed that Government is hiding an Economic crash!
The only problem? Mr Garg's math wouldn't pass a 10th-grade statistics class.
Let’s break it down. 🧵
FCNR(B) deposits under the June scheme announced by RBI closed at a massive $ 127 bn+.
This inflow will infuse domestic liquidity, which has risen to a daily surplus of INR 8.5 trillion already.
Meanwhile, in Bangkok, Thailand’s prime minister sang “Let It Be” and “Blowin’ in the Wind” as Singapore’s prime minister played guitar.

A good engineer. This is exactly what Apple needs for durability.
Let’s hope he managed to get Apple to catch up with Huawei for hardware innovation. Apple used to be the leader under Steve Jobs.

Today's graphic in the @timesofindia provides an excellent answer.
First, National Statistics across the world necessarily use estimates and proxies.
Why? GDP measures the economic activity of millions of firms and households. When the first estimate is released, complete information simply does not yet exist. Statistical agencies therefore use the best available data, supplemented by indicators, estimates and statistical techniques.
The alternative would be to wait years before publishing GDP.
The UN's System of National Accounts is the globally agreed framework for compiling National Statistics:

Second, GDP estimates get revised because more and better data become available.
The UN SNA explicitly notes that, as National Accounts are compiled over time, data sources change and improve. New surveys may become available, revealing that earlier assumptions need updating. The historical series must then be revised to provide the best possible picture. https://t.co/9ffla3Rl1m
This is not uniquely Indian. The UK's Office for National Statistics explicitly states that revisions incorporate better or more complete source data, late or more comprehensive information, benchmarking, and improvements in methods. https://t.co/7JVPyTrkyc
Now look carefully at the top table in today's TOI graphic.
The crucial fact is this:
Revisions go BOTH upward and downward.
April-June 2023: 8.2% → 6.6% ⬇️
July-September 2024: 5.6% → 7.3% ⬆️
Several other quarters have also been revised upward or downward.
That matters enormously.
If revisions consistently moved in only one direction, one could reasonably investigate whether there was systematic bias.
But that is not what the data show.
Some estimates go up. Some go down.
That is exactly what one would expect when preliminary estimates based on incomplete information are progressively updated using more complete information.
Revision is not manipulation. Revision is how National Statistics get progressively closer to the truth.
The question, therefore, is not: “Why did the number change?”
The question is: “Do revisions display systematic bias in one direction?”
The table provides a clear answer.
They DO NOT.

We debate about data centers, benefits of AI etc. But this is what it’s about here.
Open Athena doing a massive 535B run, in the open. We’re so early, seeing scientific open source models is exciting.
