One cool element I saw today early at Cowboys practice: defensive coordinator Christian Parker not only watched the LBs in coverage drills, he partook, as well. He communicated, gave signals and even covered like he was a nickel or safety.
Several Cowboys players have changed their numbers, per the NFL's transactions wire:
- RB Israel Abanikanda: From 30 to 25
- WR Camden Brown: From 6 to 80
- DL Jonathan Bullard: From 98 to 90
- WR Jordan Hudson: From 18 to 81
- DB Ameer Speed: From 39 to 23
- OLB Tyrus Wheat: From 90 to 59
If Sam Williams' deal in Cleveland is for the $1.215m minimum and he is on the roster Week 1, the Cowboys would owe him $185k, and they would receive a cap credit at the end of the season.
Cowboys QB Joe Milton was not claimed off waivers, according to the NFL's transaction wire.
He is now free to sign with any NFL team and/or practice squad.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer acknowledged that there are aspects of their scheme that they hold until their roster is more set.
“There are some concepts and things we’ve held that we haven’t shown. Because we know players are going to be moving all over (after roster cuts).”
"We're trying to build a team to beat the New York Giants. And then, the week after that, the team might look a little different to go against the Washington Commanders. And then, it might look a little different for the international game."

Sources: The #Browns are expected to sign former #Cowboys DE Sam Williams.

@Iishamorrison I'm not going to lie the way I got familiar with him was one of your in fantasy. He was a week-to-week transaction pick up for me and did fairly well LOL
Broderick Jones says the thing that went wrong in Pittsburgh is they kept moving him and he “couldn’t get his feet set” at either tackle position.
the #Cowboys will lock him in at RT:
“I'm pumped up, man. I'm just pumped up, you know?”
