I was going to reply with "steampunk sucks, but cyberpunk doesn't", but I knew he didn't know what cyberpunk was, this was in 2011. Minecraft wasn't released yet but ppl were playing the beta, I could've played it but wasn't interested, too cartoony, I prefer realistic MMOs.

cyberpunk is super futuristic ultra modern mega-cool usually involving hackers hacking cyborgs robots advanced tech a specific style on it's own so on and so forth, it isn't as obvious as mega-lame steampunk which was perfectly razzed in that key & peele skit

cyberpunk wasn't started with the d&d ripoff game i never heard of which inspired the video game, cyberpunk 2077 is not cyberpunk, it is a cyberpunk game but not the end all be all of the genre aesthetic style known as cyberpunk

@RealHootless My film is 0% inspired by cp2077, it’s inspired by max headroom, blade runner, a clockwork orange, and other things including other cyberpunk things that game being none of them, that game is loosely based off some nerdy D&D style game but I never heard of it

R.I.P. DAVID HOCKNEY

Sad to learn of the passing of David Hockney who died yesterday (11th June) at the age of 88.

A statement from Hockney’s representatives said: “The celebrated British artist David Hockney, one of the most important figures in contemporary art in both the 20th and 21st centuries, passed away peacefully at home on 11 June 2026, one month short of his 89th birthday. David Hockney’s enduring legacy reflects his underlying enthusiasm for life, his outstanding sense of humour, his immense generosity and his investigative curiosity encapsulated by his signature phrase: Love Life.”

Though Bowie was not a collector of Hockney’s art, there was a mutual respect and shared friendships with the likes of Derek Boshier.

The images here were taken backstage by Andrew Kent fifty years ago on 11th February 1976, following Bowie’s show at The Forum, Inglewood, Los Angeles.

Bowie is pictured shaking hands with Hockney while Christopher Isherwood looks on.

Our thoughts are with Mr Hockney’s friends and family.
