Two lawyers who represented MSU in the aftermath of the Larry Nassar scandal and then left to work in private practice have returned to the university. Now, they investigate sexual harassment and assault reports for the school's Title IX office. https://t.co/GTytAf39C8
Today we honor the memory of students Arielle Anderson, Brian Fraser and Alexandria Verner as well as all affected by the tragedy that occurred on our campus two years ago.

I would love to live in a world where reporting does not come with unfair and traumatic consequences.
I would never tell a survivor “don’t report”, but I also can’t in good faith encourage it. Reporting is a personal decision that each survivor needs to make for themselves.
As a society, it is on us to create cultures where survivors can report the harm done to them without upending their entire lives and enduring secondary trauma.
“There are serious concerns about conflicts of interest when universities have powerful boards of trustees, who have economic interests due to their positions w/ large corporations & their interest in maintaining that power & intruding into universities.” https://t.co/6RXNK3AkLM

"Yankowski, who retired from LPD after Reed's arrest in 2019, is also named as defendant for a [claimed] failure to properly train and supervise officers... [he] now works as an assistant director of institutional ethics and compliance at Michigan State University..."

In an exclusive interview, MSU leaders told us the university is in a "very different place" compared with where it was during the Nassar scandal.
But, in some areas, they struggled to articulate precisely how.

We sat down with MSU’s president and other campus leaders who all wanted to say the same thing: the things we found in these documents aren't a reflection of the university today.
At times, though, they struggled to articulate exactly how:
