Having now seen it, it is an absolute travesty that AFTERSUN was not nominated for Best Picture and Best Director. My goodness, what a film. I am wrecked.
Finished #Swarm yesterday and here are some thoughts:
- Domique Fishback is chillingly fantastic as Dre.
- "Who's your favorite artist?" Don't ask me that for the next week or so.
- Some great/potent ideas in the series that I wish were more fleshed out and investigated.

This is the behind-the-scenes story of what was going on in my life when I wrote @THR's Michelle Yeoh cover story a year ago.
I wanted to write it down and share it in gratitude to Yeoh, to my own mom and to all the women who've walked this path.

Til then, actors: show some gratitude for casting directors, associates and assistants. Their jobs are hard and they don't always feel seen and appreciated. Casting: please understand that many of us are frustrated right now because we don't feel seen and our work, honored.
I've seen a lot of discussion re: self-tapes for actors the different casting landscape and here's the thing: it is not an issue of actors vs. casting, nor is it a black and white issue. You can have respectful dialogue without shitting on each other.
I say all this because there are truths on both sides, but it's a lot more nuanced than us vs. them or being a black and white issue. We can have a respectful conversation that acknowledges both sides' truths and proceed in attempting to create actual systemic change.
About to watch #WomenTalking on @PrimeVideo and I will never forget the fact that Mark Wahlberg referred to the film as "Women Are Talking" at the SAG Awards.
