17 janvier 1967, Lennon débute l'écriture d'un titre sur son piano. Pour les paroles, il s'inspire des articles du Daily Mail du jour. Le lendemain, il présente ce titre à McCartney. Ils complètent ensemble les paroles et, comme John n'a pas de pont, Paul en compose un de toute pièce sans relation réelle avec la chanson d'ailleurs. Très vite, Lennon & McCartney savent qu'ils tiennent là une "good track" comme ils disent quand ils sont assez fiers de ce qu'ils ont créé. Deux jours plus tard, ils demandent à George Martin de préparer un orchestre. Quarante musiciens du Royal Philharmonic Orchestra seront bientôt convoqués pour participer à l'enregistrement d'un des titres les plus célèbres d'un album qui fera beaucoup parler de lui, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

@nadgegriff Absolutely it’s only when you go away do you realise how different we Welsh are how proud we are of our culture, our history just how amazing it is to be Welsh…. always someones ready to pick us up when we fall/fail

😀at your stool one of the stewards was a mate of my D he would put out an old fold up wooden pub chair for me, I sat on it legs swinging, chin on the hoarding cheering the lads on 😀
