Postdoctoral researcher at Natural History Museum & Centre for Planetary Habitability Oslo 🦖 Computational palaeobiology, deep learning and macroevolution 🦣
Really happy to see paper one of my PhD out today in @NatureComms. We develop a deep learning framework for estimating diversity from fossil data 🤿 🦣🐚
Many thanks to @JoeFlanSan and Daniele Silvestro for the collaboration

Our new paper is online in @CurrentBiology!
We found that; 1) today's sharks & ray diversity was already reached ~100Ma; 2) that the K/Pg extinction was not catastrophic; 3) that the max diversity was reached ~50Ma; and 4) that today's diversity is depleted compared to the past.

📢📢 New preprint out now on @EarthArXiv!
"deeptime: an R package that facilitates highly customizable visualizations of data over geological time intervals"
That's right, there is now a proper citable paper for my deeptime R package!

We compare different methods to impute missing trait data, use sharks as a test, and introduce an R package https://t.co/0esSAQ8GNx
1/ Glad to see our new study published! We present a new analytical tool to untangle the complexity of factors driving speciation and extinction patterns over deep-time. Our method uses paleontological occurrences and is based on neural networks.

New paper alert!🚨
A Phanerozoic gridded dataset for palaeogeographic reconstructions 🌐
Global Plate Models are widely used in the Earth Sciences to reconstruct the past geographic position of geological samples, but their application is not trivial...

Thrilled that our research, "Challenges in estimating species' age from phylogenetic trees," was published in @GEB_macro .
Estimating species age is not trivial, but now it is more accurate thanks to our proposed method.

Pleased to share my latest PhD chapter; where me & @pimientoc investigate the rise & fall of shark functional diversity during the Cenozoic era.
Now published OA in @GEB_macro! 🦈
