The Making of Ramayana - Pure Facts

Ramayana was initially the Idea of Namit Malhotra, a 3 Part Movie Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Co Produced by Madhu Mantena and Allu Arvind.

Madhu Mantena, Allu Arvind and Namit Malhotra were initially in collaboration on the project. The process of pre production was already going on, but as the movie required a massive amount of VFX to create the world of Ramayana, the project faced major budget constraints.

Allu Arvind and Madhu Mantena Parted away from this Project due to creative differences, The Leads were Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Hrithik Roshan as Ravana during this period, Later Hrithik also parted away.

Ranbir Kapoor as Rama was there from the beginning of the project.

Namit was keen to make the film with Nitesh Tiwari, so the pre production continued. He eventually came on board as the producer and VFX partner, taking the project forward with a renewed vision.

Namit Malhotra Purchased the rights from his Co Producers for an Hefty amount, The Movie was now a 2 Part Venture with Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Nitesh Tiwari and Ravi Udaywar as Director, later Nitesh Tiwari became solo director with Ravi being a key part of creative team.

Yash was doing rounds for VFX for his new film Toxic and he met Namit in LA for the same. There, Namit asked Yash if he would like to come on board as Ravana. Yash accepted the role after a sequence of discussions.

Before Yash, the role was for Hrithik Roshan, but he rejected it because he didn't want to play antagonist.

Yash also came on board as a producer, but major contribution is solely by Namit Malhotra, that's why he says it is highest individually financed movie by a producer, no one has done it before.

The casting of Sai Pallavi as Sita was not easy, Hundreds of actress gave audition for this role including KGF Fame Srinidhi Shetty, etc but Sai Pallavi bagged the role in the end.

Though Nitesh Tiwari always wanted Sai Pallavi to play the character of Mata Sita, but finalisation took time.

Miraculously Hans Zimmer also came on board after knowing about History of Ramayana with AR Rahman and Kumar Vishwas.

Now, Sony is on board and is ready to give 50,000 screens to Ramayana along with Korean Giant CJ4DPlex, who will give 1200+ Screen X and 4DX screens to Ramayana Globally.
