When the media reports on fraud and corruption by whites, they make it seem like an inconvenient mistake or mere lapse of judgement on perpetrators' part.

There is never in-depth scrutiny that black people get subjected to.

Take these cases for example:

- A R4 billion fraud by Kastello, whose chairman is the DA's Finance Head, Mark Burke. The media make it seem like is just a mere exchange control violation, when it is a massive fraud where unauthorised offshore transfers were disguised as clients' foreign investment allowances.

- Another R4 billion fraud at Tongaat-Hullet was reported as "an accounting irregularity". Former executives have been charged with fraud, yet we still don't know what properties they own and cars they drive, as it would have been the case if they were black.

- The R365 billion fraud perpetrated by Markus Jooste at Steinhoff was also reported as "accounting irregularity". The DA which was linked to Markus Jooste and Steinhof has never been made the face of this fraud, in spite of evidence of direct links; yet the EFF was made the face of VBS when there is no link that fraud.

- The CEO of Private preschool group KleuterZone, CEO Anthonie Bougas, vanished with R500 million belonging to investors and we don't even know how he looks like and which political party he is linked to.

- Lawyer Ronald Bobroff stole close to a R1 billion from RAF claimants and fled to Australia in 2016. He was a regular commentator on Radio 702. The media has never hounded people linked to these scumbags and make them the face of crimes they committed. That is reserved for only black people.

😃 😀 😄 I once taught a module on strategic communications. I presented 2 seminars themed: "the paradoxes of communication" and "Trusting the messenger..." My Broadband would have been the perfect case study for my class.

What's the paradox? The harder you push a message, the more you can put people off it.

And trust? MyBroadband's relentless targeting of Black executives has made many of us deeply suspicious of whatever it is selling.

Now it wants Eskom unbundled at speed, and because Mteto Nyati is urging caution, apparently he “must go”. At this rate, MyBroadband is becoming the best argument against its own position. The message is so aggressively promoted and the choice of targets so predictable that instead of persuading us, it makes us wonder whose interests are really being served.

PS.....And @PresidencyZA ? After all these years of working quietly, respectfully with Mteto, the president, via his Communications Aid, the affable @SpokespersonRSA, now decided to "scold" him?

I am concerned at how journalists keep reporting Victory Research polls with its constant good news for the DA as objective fact, despite the fact that its CEO worked for the DA for 12 years and still fights dirty on their behalf on X every day. Even if the polls get it right, this context is super important to always include.

Plus the fact the The Social Research Foundation and its publicaton Common Sense Media, who first published the research are both right-leaning, founded and led by former IRR head Frans Cronje who has long been anti-ANC. These are NOT objective people running these polls and should be noted in every report but journalists keep leaving it out.

Instead each new release over the past week: ANC at 18% in Jhb, Motsepe preferred as ANC president, etc, makes headlines with no mention of the pollster's party politics and conflict of interest. @News24
