Sometimes life gets in the way and you lose sight of what matters. Personal tragedies, lack of funding, growing older, all add to feelings of can I still do this. I have manged to press the reset button. Opening another Reflections in 2 weeks time.

@EmergencyBod We knew this was coming years ago and every government over the last 20 years has failed to act. It will take another 20 years to put this right. People are living longer, more people with dementia etc etc, growing population. I feel for all of you as stress will get worse.
@ProfRobHoward It is sad to hear of Wendys death but she died on her own terms. This last blog will open up much discussion around dying and will be an uncomfortable read for many but you have to admit they are very thought provoking words.
What an amazing lady. So touched to read this blog. Please as many people read this, it is truly special. RIP @WendyPMitchell, you will never be forgotten for what you have achieved in bringing awareness in living with and dying with dementia.
This is Sarah and Gemma, Wendyβs daughters. Our mum died peacefully early this morning. She wrote a blog post before she died so you can read about it from her perspective.

@mancunianmedic We have moved over the years from preventative to crisis management. I have worked in social care for 35yrs. We used to provide low level services funded by LA now mostly acute or end of life care and supporting very poorly people. More cuts coming.
The Reflections team enjoyed a murder mystery today. The people picked their characters and came in costume ! They all had a brilliant afternoon with much laughter as usual. Just love the Captains quip !
Went to granddaughters Christingle service at a quaint old Baptist church. Christmas stripped of all the commercialisation. Members of the church arranged it all and made tea etc. All were quite elderly. Prob not many such churches will survive with no younger people joining.
When a retired care home entertainer develops dementia and starts attending Reflections he feels that he has got his purpose and self worth back and we in turn get a fab entertainer.
My husbands headstone made its appearance yesterday. Didn't realise how long these things take. A little reference to Coldplay and one to American Trilogy which the church accepted prob thinking Danny liked stars and psalms π
