Kemi Badenoch claims she’ll bring back tax-free shopping for visitors.

But it was Kemi who abolished it in the first place!

Will she now apologise for personally instigating this? Does she have any humility?

In 2020, Kemi abolished VAT relief for overseas visitors, saying it was “a costly relief which does not benefit the whole of GB equally.” I’ve kept the receipts below.

Based on her own maths, the policy has cost British high streets about £20 billion in the last 5 years.

She concedes the policy has led to “British retailers closing down” and customers being “chased away”. Even that it was “ignorant”.

Now, after the damage has been done and she’s no longer in a position to change this she says she’d reverse course. Too late.

I warned at the time that scrapping the scheme would harm British businesses as did Nigel Farage and Reform UK. I brought businesses to the doors of Ministers who brushed their concerns aside.

Last week Kemi Badenoch was waffling on about inheritance tax, only for it to be revealed she froze the inheritance tax thresholds and cost grieving families billions.

Today she’s been exposed again for her anti-business, tax raising record.

Lapdog ‘journalists’ might not report the truth in their coverage. But I will.

You just can’t trust a word the Tories say on tax.
