Given the coordinated attacks on our rights around the country and globe, this moment brings with it a lot of concern. But, there is great deal of hope and opportunity in this moment too. Together, we will succeed. For now, please follow me at @rwgreer! 🇺🇸🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Yesterday was my last day at the @WhiteHouse. It has been such a humbling and wonderful experience to work for @POTUS and @VP. I will always be grateful for this opportunity.
I’ll sign off with a quote from @POTUS from #Pride 2021:
“Progress won’t come easily; it never has. But we’re going to stand strong, stand together. And I promise you, we will succeed. I promise you.”
Lawmakers should be working to #ProtectTransKids - not working to ban their existence.
It is really disgusting to see so many adults actively pursuing this hateful agenda.
To all the kids out there -- trans, genderqueer, still figuring it out -- please know, you're not alone.
“They’re trying to take their [trans kids] parents’ support away, they’re trying to take doctors’ support away, they’re trying to take teachers’ support away, & they’re trying to take their teams and coaches away.” - Me. https://t.co/zGICi4w09R
Lawmakers in more than 30 states are pushing legislation targeting LGBTQ+ people, especially trans kids and their loved ones. It’s just plain wrong. I will never stop working to #ProtectTransKids, no matter where they live.
As more than half of U.S. states push anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, I remain committed to protecting and expanding LGBTQ+ rights in Pennsylvania.
Let's pass the #PAFairnessAct.
Every child in our country should have the chance to go to school, play sports, and pursue their hobbies fearlessly. In the face of unprecedented legislation targeting LGBTQ+ people—especially trans kids—I will not stop working to #ProtectTransKids from these baseless attacks.
A portrait of advocacy: Quentin, a Black transgender man from Selma is motivated by his family, his community, and his home to tirelessly speak out against anti-transgender legislation in Alabama. https://t.co/f37aMdKEWw via @caseyparks@washingtonpost
To all the trans kids out there: we won’t stop fighting until you’re able to freely be the person you are and were always meant to be. #ProtectTransKids
The Senate voted last night to confirm Alison Nathan to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, making her the second-ever openly lesbian judge to serve on an appellate court. Congratulations, Judge Nathan!
"You are loved and you are worthy. You are part of the vibrant diversity that makes this state great. This General Assembly will not let anyone roll back the clock on our progress. Progress that we take pride in. Trans people in Delaware are here to stay." -Sen. @SarahEMcBride 👏
Twelve years ago, I proudly stood beside President @BarackObama as he signed into law the most consequential expansion of health care in generations: the Affordable Care Act.
We lost a brilliant mind and a great public servant today.
The first woman Secretary of State, a refugee, and a Medal of Freedom awardee, Madeline Albright was a force of nature and unwavering champion of human rights and democracy.
Rest In Peace, Madam Secretary.
