‘ANG SENADO AY HINDI DAPAT MAGING KANLUNGAN NG ABSENTEEISM AT PAGTATAKIPAN’

‘ALL THIS FOR A MAN WHO SIMPLY DOESN’T WANT TO FACE THE LAW’
Sen. Risa Hontiveros pushed back against attempts to link minority senators to the Senate incident, saying the narrative being spread is politically motivated.
“There is only one reason some bad faith actors are trying very hard to make this controversial event about me and other Minority senators and the times we went home. All this for a man who simply doesn’t want to face the law. That’s it. That’s the whole story,” she said.
Hontiveros stressed that Senate employees had already gone home and that she was in the province for a scheduled engagement, rejecting what she described as politicization of routine movements.
She also called for accountability and urged Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa to cooperate with authorities, saying the public deserves a full, independent and transparent accounting of the incident.

The Philippines is literally getting screwed in this global energy crisis, and it is largely due to a lack of preparation.
President Duterte’s administration proposed the building a Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) back in 2022 when oil prices started climbing on the heels of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Inaction by the Department of Energy and lack of interest from the majority of lawmakers (save for the few who proposed it) have left the country fully exposed to the chaos unfolding in the global energy markets today.
The Philippines had all the opportunity to build a formidable SPR as oil prices fell between 2023 and 2025. As a nation dependent on imports for almost all of its petroleum needs, it makes no sense for the Philippines not to have an SPR. This is common sense.
So if you hear leaders cast blame on global events for rising cost of living, understand that they had all the time in the world to mitigate the impact.

ILOILO CITY MANGROVE AREA 🌳
ICYMI: Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas shared aerial shots of the city's mangrove areas which is said to protect the city from calamities.
"This mangrove area is a product of natural colonization, made possible by the availability of soil deposits from the city’s flood control project. Over time, this site has evolved into—and continues to grow as—a significant mangrove patch for Iloilo City," Mayor Treñas stated.

This is one of our flood control projects in Iloilo: a life-saving infrastructure that now protects thousands of Ilonggo residents from floods like those caused by Typhoon Frank in 2008.
This was built with the help of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and constructed by Hanjin Heavy Industries of South Korea and China International Water & Electric Corporation.
The project includes widened river channels, better drainage, and new bridges built to withstand typhoons.
It stands today as proof that smart planning and international cooperation can protect lives and secure a city’s future.

Duterte's drug war thrived on gender inequality. Driven by his hypermasculine populism, it left women to seek justice alone, broke, and vulnerable to gender-based abuse.
An all-women chamber has just issued Duterte's arrest warrant.
Today, Women's Month becomes more meaningful.
